Butterfly Bakery of Vermont

Butterfly Bakery began as a small bakery in Barre, Vermont, where Claire Georges made cookies and granola, until trading unsold baked goods for chili peppers at the farmers market led to hot sauce.

Today the kitchen makes sauces, salsas and whole seed mustards by hand from small-farm ingredients, with flavor first, heat second and often a touch of Vermont maple. Favorites include Taco Vibes Only, Maple Sugar Shack Sriracha and Rum Barrel Fermented Smoked Jalapeño. Their sauces have appeared on Hot Ones, earned praise from Food & Wine and won awards internationally.
