Green Belly Foods Yellow Belly is a medium, sweet and tangy hot sauce, the company’s ode to the Guatemalan tradition of mango con chile y limón. Every neighborhood in Guatemala has a frutero selling fresh fruit on a stick, and Green Belly’s favorite is mango sprinkled with chile and salt and drizzled with lime. It recreates that with mango, tamarind, lime juice and cayenne.
It complements grilled food and seafood: try it on fish tacos, shrimp, chicken, pulled pork and rice bowls. Green Belly Foods, which Juan started at a farmers market in 2015 with his mother’s Guatemalan recipe, makes its sauces in Colorado.

About the maker
Guatemalan-inspired hot sauces from Boulder, Colorado, based on the recipes Juan Ignacio Stewart learned in his mother’s kitchen in Antigua.
Juan started sharing the family hot sauce at farmers markets in 2014, and his cousin Charlie soon joined him. The flagship Green Belly is a fresh, herby cilantro and habanero sauce, joined by Red Belly and Yellow Belly. All three are mild to medium.
