Fat Cat Mexican-Style Habanero takes a Mexican approach to the orange habanero, focusing on the pepper’s fruity flavor, with its citrus and apricot notes, more than its heat. Fat Cat says it’s still darned hot stuff, but savory and sweet too, with carrots, onions, garlic and bay leaf in cider vinegar. It won first place for habanero sauces, a Golden Chile, at the 2014 Fiery Foods Challenge.
Add it to eggs, fried chicken and enchiladas, or a few drops to a Bloody Mary. Fat Cat Gourmet makes its sauces in Florida.
