Gindo’s Bacon Bourbon Ghost is a hot, bacon-inspired sauce with no bacon in it: alderwood-smoked salt and maple syrup bring the smoky, salty-sweet notes, barrel-aged bourbon adds smooth vanilla and oak, and locally grown ghost peppers, with habanero and cayenne, deliver the fiery finish. It’s built on yellow and red bell peppers.
Try it on breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, pulled pork, smoked brisket, burgers and grilled vegetables. It’s gluten-free. Gindo’s, a woman-owned company started in 2011, makes its own fresh-pepper sauces and runs a Hot Saucery in St. Charles, Illinois.

About the maker
Fresh pepper hot sauces from Chris “Gindo” Ginder and his wife, Mary, who started Gindo’s Spice of Life in Los Angeles in 2011 and now make it in Illinois.
Gindo’s sauces have rich, savory twists: Bacon Bourbon Ghost, Bacon Jalapeño, Truffle Parmesan, Vampire Slayer and Jalapeño Poblano. They range from mild to extra hot, with smoke, maple and honey for depth.
