CaJohns Classic Chipotle is a mild, smoky Louisiana-style table sauce built on chipotle peppers, smoke-dried ripe jalapeños, in a tangy vinegar base. The smoke comes first, with a soft, warming heat and a little natural sweetness.

CaJohns pairs it with tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas, grilled meats and barbecue, roasted vegetables, eggs, wings, burgers and fish tacos. It also works in marinades, soups and stews.

About the maker

CaJohns Fiery Foods Co.

One of the most awarded names in craft hot sauce, CaJohns Fiery Foods was founded in central Ohio in 1996 by John “CaJohn” Hard, a fire protection engineer with a love of spicy food.

CaJohns makes a huge range: Small Batch garlic cayenne, jalapeño and habanero sauces, a black garlic series, Serrano Lime, Wild Mushroom, Fatali Fire and Raspberry Honey Mustard. At the top end, the Black Mamba sauces use pepper extract for extreme heat. Medium is the biggest group here, with plenty at both ends of the scale.
